Our Partnership with Spin

Through a partnership with Spin, e-scooters will be provided as a convenient transit option for visitors to the gallery and surrounding area. E-scooters represent an opportunity to lower Portlanders’ reliance on personal vehicles by providing last-mile transportation to and from areas not served directly by the Max or high-frequency bus lines.

Electric scooters are an elegant solution for many Portlanders. By integrating scooter banks with trunk bus lines and the TriMet MAX, a substantial number of Portlanders gain access to public transportation. TriMet has already started experimenting with multimodal trip planning by connecting riders with services like Uber and Biketown. Existing options, however, fail to reduce vehicular traffic and the associated pollution, are expensive, or require physical ability.

For people with respiratory illnesses, scooters offer a non-polluting means of getting to and from the MAX. Scooters can also boost economic activity in business districts with lagging circulation and patronage. We All Rise has partnered with Spin to bring visibility to BIPOC-owned businesses by notifying users of the Kinetic Collective. Once implemented, this strategy can be implemented in other districts as well. Ultimately, making Portland universally accessible will require a plethora of solutions. Scooters are an ideal way to get more people out of their cars, reduce pollution, boost businesses citywide, and shrink the mobility gap between inner and outer neighborhoods in the Portland metro area.
